1st Culinary Council Meeting: Fall 2017

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with Chef Tim and Marketing Coordinator Rachael today! We loved hearing what you had to say and hoped that those of you who walked away with a prize box enjoyed it.

"You've added a lot more options!"

"Simple Servings is great!"

"We love the yogurt dispenser."

“Good year so far for food!"

-Students at lunch 9/22/17

Boxes that students got today for chatting with us!

Here's a breakdown of what we discussed today:

-Where is the Zucchini Bread?

We will have this on Monday September 25th!

-Can we get hummus in the morning at Vegan Station?

We will put Hummus at Harmony in the mornings by October. (for those of you that like hummus on your bagel.) We will be sure to stock Original and Roasted Red Pepper!

-Eggs? Can we get the whole eggs back for the Omelet Bar?

We use liquid eggs to try and lessen the omelet line in the morning. The only difference from shelled eggs is a bit citric acid to preserve it.

-Can we get Natural Skippy? Or a natural peanut butter?

We sadly cannot source natural peanut butter in the quanties needed for the Dining Commons.

-We like the Yogurt Dispenser! We would prefer cups, putting a bowl under the dispenser is difficult.

Great! That's new this year. There is a possibility for a second dispenser which could be filled strawberry yogurt. We will also add cups to avoid the bowl issue!

-Fruit looks bruised and bad on the weekends. Why?

There are less students on campus on the weekends. We find we are putting out too much fruit for the amount of guests in the Dining Commons on the weekends so there is a surplus of extra fruit that sits out. We will cut back on the amount we put out and see if that fixes the bruised fruit issue!

-Can we get Unsweetened Almond Milk?

Like the peanut butter we are unable to source it at this time but we will keep looking for alternatives.

-Can we have Roasted Chick Peas again?

Chef Tim will discuss with kitchen to get Roasted Chick Peas on the salad bar on occasion.

-Can we Harissa Dressing more?

We will try to put this on the salad bar when we have it!

Thanks! See you next week,

Tim, Kim, and Rachael
